Well not done much painting this week and also didnt make it to the club this week either. But I did finally decide that carrying lots of expensive models around in an open biscuit tin was not the ideal transport mechanism. So to that end I took a look on the KR Multicase website.
I have used them before for my Tau and I am perfectly happy with the reinforced cardboard and soft form foam. Also to my mind nice expensive looking metal cases attract some unwanted attention where as cardboard boxes are inconspicuous.
They do actually make a lot of other cases and back packs so maybe worth a browse around.

New dice new start?
Well lets just say I must be a bad roller :). I have just got some new dice. 4 game science dice and a pack of 5 arkham asylum dice that I thought looked cool. The arkham dice are bigger and have more weight to them so may end up using them.
A quick 10 minutes rolling on arrival demonstrated some kind of special super power I have that allows me to get low numbers! Fingers crossed though just hitting averages in a game would give me a chance :)

Cursed Dice.
Well on Tuesday gone I had my first game in the slow grow league. Menoth Vs. Cygnar, Mangled metal
The armies were
Menoth
pKreoss
Crusader
Vanquisher
Repenter
Cygnar
pStryker
Charger
Lancer
Ironclad
The fight lasted 7 turns. It also featured some of the worst dice rolls I have ever had (The steaming image on this dice would have featured frequently in my rolls). In one instance I had popped my feat had the whole Cygnar side on the floor, charged in my Crusader with 3 focus and basically did no damage to the Ironclad. I got so fixated on getting a kill that I exposed Kreoss and after finally killing the Ironclad Stryker was able to finish Kreoss off with a shot and some arcane bolts.
I have bought new dice , psychological I know but that's the second game where I have had a heavy warjack loaded with focus failing to do any real damage to a knocked down jack.
Key lessons for me.

- If the plan goes wrong don't push on regardless, change tact and regroup.
- Don't be afraid to be more mobile with my faster jacks.
No league games this Tuesday, the next ones will be the 21st. In the meantime I am slowly painting my Crusader. Its not pretty but I will keep going until I am happy with the scheme and then I can use it as a template for everything else.

Time dims your memory.
I had forgotten how sloppy my painting skills are. I messed round with some darker colours on my Crusader but really didn't like what I was getting. What I had in my head and what actually appeared in front of my eyes were very different things.
So out came the old base coat spray again and I have decided to go with the studio colours for the moment (well roughly as I don't actually have the same paints) which at least means I have some good guides to follow.
I think I will refresh my skills by painting standard colours and then work on some different schemes later on. I really am only a mediocre painter at best but to even achieve that I need some practice! :)

Black or White
Well I have base coated all my models. I do very much like the studio colour schemes for the Menoth but I also like the idea of something a bit darker. So with that in mind I went for chaos black as the undercoat.
This wont stop me going for the more traditional paint schemes but if I do then it will make it a little harder for sure.

The other side.
Well so far I have managed to play Menoth twice at the club. Games are still taking a long time as I learn the rules but getting a bit quicker.
First game was against Khador and man do they have some armor. Managed a draw against them. Second game was against a horde faction Legion of Everblight. These guys are nasty. But Menoth seem quite good to counter them. However due to some truly awful rolls on my part I managed to lose this one.
Tuesday night I took on the part of Khador and played another novice Menoth player. This was also a good demonstration of how not to roll dice. The end result was a draw but it gave me some ideas how to play Menoth and some more appreciation for Khador.
Next week should be the first battles in the slow grow league. Hopefully I should have everything base coated by then and be ready to start painting as well.
